Come and sing Evensong
Sunday 26 March, 14:30–19:15
in Justus Lipsius College Chapel, Minderbroederstraat 15.
We invite singers from all over Leuven and beyond to come and sing Anglican Evensong with the church of St Martha and St Mary.
We will learn the music (and a bit about the service itself) in a relaxed singing workshop in the afternoon. Then we will finish the day with the service itself at 18:30.
* Both the workshop and the service will be in English.
* It's free of charge, and you don't need to bring anything — except your voice and plenty of enthusiasm!
* You should be comfortable reading music, but don't worry, you don't need to be a great sight-reader.
* The workshop will be led by an experienced choir leader.
* Singers of all religious faiths and none are equally welcome.
About Evensong
Evensong was created in 1549 during a time of political and religious unrest, and it is still celebrated today — almost completely unchanged — in cathedrals and churches all over England and in Anglican churches worldwide.
The service of Evensong is a famous style of worship that is unique to the Church of England. It is mostly led by the choir, with hymns, psalms and prayers all sung in a distinctive style.
