Below is a wonderful article in the ICS news showing the love and appreciation M&Ms has for their chaplain. Titled "Cheer your chaplain"
1 Thessalonians 5:11
Therefore encourage one another and build one another up, as indeed you are doing.
Our chaplain, the Revd Jack McDonald, works very hard at many different facets of ministry in and around our chaplaincy. It isn’t easy being in charge of a small but clever church like ours, although Jack is relentlessly and indefatigably cheerful and optimistic. We wanted to take this opportunity to encourage him and to tell him that we appreciate the many gifts he brings to his ministry, his happy enthusiasm, and his love and care for us.
We therefore declare this week ‘Cheer your Chaplain week’ in the city of Leuven.
Here are some of the things our parishioners had to say about Jack and his ministry:
‘Jack has an ability to see the world in colour…I appreciate his effervescence and energy…he shares his detailed theological knowledge with us…he makes me laugh and always manages to cheer me up…I come away from conversations with him feeling better about myself and about God’s world…Jack’s services remind me of home and make being away a little less difficult…his open minded ministry makes me see and feel the future of the church…Jack opens up our community to the Spirit through his expert ministry, impressive theological knowledge and easy going nature…Jack teaches by example how to believe resolutely without alienating those with whom we disagree…his enthusiasm is contagious…he is always looking for the talent and potential in others…where Jack is, there is also good humour and a chance for reflection…Jack creates an environment that is open and welcoming with homilies that inspire and challenge…I think Jack does a great job at M&Ms…he usually tries to shake hands with everyone attending the service and different languages are used in services (which, I think, makes people feel at home at M&Ms)…not only does he lead our community with extensive knowledge, but also with great human insight and sensitivity…he is a practical joker who likes to fight with bananas…I like Jack’s honesty and ability to listen…his hearty laugh warms any room…he is tall…Jack is a normal guy in the real world whose theology is totally relevant to today’s society…he is attentive, accepting and intuitive… I appreciate Jack’s expression of open, graceful engagement with all regardless of where they are coming from…he is happy to answer difficult questions and welcome those who are strangers…and he always manages to keep PCC meetings short.’
In gratitude for all our chaplain does,
